| This 6 x 8 inch photograph of Gettysburg veteran Abner R. Small and his wife remains in fine condition with strong contrast, crisp focus and remains nicely matted with a clipped autograph all in it’s original period 11 x 13 ¼ frame. Major Small will be familiar to Civil War collectors and especially Gettysburg enthusiasts as the Regimental History author of the hard fought 16th Maine Volunteer Infantry The Road to Richmond. We acquired this photograph just as you see it here some years ago from the Abner Small home in Waterville, Maine and it has been part of our personal collection of Maine Civil War memorabilia. (Now and again we run out of space and are forced to thin out a bit. ) |
