| Our photos should do best to speak for this fine old razor but we will advise the viewer that the grip is of natural slabbed horn boldly embossed on one side MILITARY RAZOR With good evidence of age and period use, the piece remains in nice condition without the usual blade nicks or cracked grips. The decorated blade shows good traces it’s original etched decoration of cannon, drum and stand of banners to include the American flag with MILITARY RAZOR across it’s length. The shank is deeply touch marked by it’s Sheffield cutler. The presents of Old Glory in the blade decoration and the bold MILITARY RAZOR proclaimed on blade and grip leaves no doubt that in a time when vastly popular Sheffield cutlery was considered superior by many Americans, this piece was imported with an eye toward an anxious Union military market.
