| This attractive little child’s pull-toy waswhittled from a slab of typically coarse grained Southern pine and sports a brass tack decorated turret with a protruding gun. The little Monitor fighting vessel measures just over 12 inches in length and retains it’s original period paint. Minimal period wear of the toy offer good evidence of hours of play as the little fighting ship was pulled around the carpet by string tied to the iron mounted brass ring at it’s bow. Surely speculation, but the hand construction of the typically Yankee fighting ship from Reb pine congers up visions of a young Union sailor far from home fashioning a present from available material. A wonderful all original Civil War period artifact! As with all direct sales, we are pleased to offer a no questions asked three day inspection with refund of the purchase price upon return as purchased! |
