| A single 5 1/2 x 9 1/4 inch pre Civil War sheet printed on one side with four, eight-line stanzas celebrate a mariner working his ship through a mighty storm. The piece is signed T.M. Scroggy, Publisher, 443 Vine St. below 13th. Where all the new songs can be obtained, wholesale & Retail. The piece sports a nice ornamental border and cut of ship at the top of the sheet. Working in Philadelphia, ca. 1850s, Scroggy was a popular publisher of such song sheets however our search found only one library collection with a copy of Mountain Wave. A scarce example all in nice condition and of special interest to the 19th century Americana, ephemera, music collector or nautical enthusiast. |
