This original issue of Boston's Zion's Herald & Weslegan Journal is dated June 15, 1864 and is complete in four large 28 X 22 inch pages. It remains in nice solid condition with period folds and is stuffed with interesting reading reflective of the period. Article headings include such as RAMBLES AROUND WASHINGTON (getting a pass- fortifications - the Arlington House Plantation - the Freedmen's Village) with additional items of subscribers interest and a WEEKLY SUMMARYFrom the War, ( Virginia; Dept. of the South; Division of the Mississippi) Political - Domestic( In The Trenches and others to include a list of current contributors to the United States Christian Commission and an informative article titled After the Battle, (Coal Harbor). The paper offers the usual obituaries and a liberal number of advertisements for such as Dr. Marshall's Headache and Catarrh Snuff - Effervescent Seltzer- (Quack Cures) - Scales - Parker's Sewing Machines - East India Coffee - (hair die - clothing) and more.
