Manufacturer: Confederate States of America

Printed for the use of the Confederate military on a single 7.75 X 9.75 sheet of blue paper, this form [No. 38.] is a Requisition for Stationery. This official Confederate requisition form offers preprinted columns for the procurement of such writing equipment as Letter Paper, Envelopes, Sealing Wax, Steel Pens, Pen Holders and Bottles of Ink. Though faded with age, the period brown ink entries tell us this requisition was filed on behalf of Co. F 17th Alabama for the period of July 1st to September 30, 1864. The request is made of Capt. B. F. Reed, a member of the 17th Ala. then serving as Asst. QM Confederate States Army and is signed by the 2nd Lt. who is in command of that Company. (Some additional research may well make the signature legible to the reader.) A neat all original Confederate document, completed in the field July 1,1864 and remaining in desirable condition with no tears stains or repairs. Especially nice for the writing equipment collector or to lay in with a period Southern field desk.
