An original copy of Daboll's READY RECKONER for SHIP BUILDERS & ALL PERSONS WHO BUY, SELL OR MEASURE TIMBER. Daboll's little pocket references were published in various categories. This particular one contains tables that would enable the user to calculate by sight the quantity of stacked, milled, or log timber. We suspect the billing by the New England publisher / author as a shipbuilder's reference was more a reflection of marketing than common practice as the little book of tables saw nearly as wide use as the farmer's almanac of the day. All complete and original with good evidence of age and decades of storage this little twelve page pocket reference with it's boldly printed 1863 date on the cover will lay nicely in any personal grouping of the Civil War era. With it's title the book will offer an eye catching addition to a period nautical grouping. A neat and inexpensive every day item of the period.
