Manufacturer: antique
An attractive early seal designed to impress the initials E.A. into hot sealing wax. This nicely turned desk or writing accessory is approximately 2 3/8" in length and is fashioned of brass and fine grained bone. Used to seal folded letter stationary for mail or courier before the days of common envelope use and to seal or verify authenticity of important documents. A neat little implement from earlier days with popular use through the Civil War era. (see: Neumann’s EARLY AMERICAN ANTIQUE COUNTRY FURNISHINGS) |
