Six crispy as new gold bullion on wool felt Infantry devices still mounted on the original store card. The label of Noah Walker & Co, Citizens and Military Clothing Depot, Washington Building, Baltimore, (see: 1863 Baltimore Directory ). Authorized in 1832/34 as branch insignia for Infantry, this design saw considerable use both in the "Regular Army" and State troops through the Civil War. Earlier examples are most frequently observed as tailcoat insignia while Civil War era use examples are found in a variety of uses to include use as hat insignia.
